About Wolff Engineering
Wolff Engineering specializes in multi-discipline engineering and manufacture of mechanical components and assemblies.
Kevin Wolff, founder, spent his early years working on John Deere farm equipment and developed a passion for building things with a focus on mechanical motion. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving three years with the 1st Cavalry Division, including operations in the Middle East.
Upon completing his service, Kevin attended Texas A&M University for five years, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology with emphasis on Mechanics, Machine Elements, and Metallurgy. He then spent 18 years in digital controls and the oil & gas industry, designing numerous oilfield components.
Kevin purchased his first vehicle — a 1986 Jeep CJ7 4x4 — after returning from Kuwait in 1992. He drove it through college on the GI Bill until graduation. Later, while working at Siemens Building Technologies in Coppell, Texas, he retired the Jeep to the family farm in Fayetteville, Texas.
Years later, during a restoration project, Kevin identified a flaw in the Jeep's steering design. Using his engineering expertise, he prototyped a precision lower steering column bearing upgrade. Sharing it in a Jeep Facebook group, he discovered it solved a common problem for many owners. This led to small-batch sales, then expansion into GM/Chevrolet trucks as the steering clunk issue gained attention online. The result: the GM109SS and GM209SS bearings — sealed, zero-play solutions built to last.
Wolff Engineering is the culmination of decades of hands-on experience, dedicated to delivering quality, American-made designs directly to customers.
Today, Wolff Engineering continues to design and manufacture American-made precision mechanical components, with the GM109SS and GM209SS bearings remaining flagship products trusted by truck owners nationwide. What began as a personal restoration project has grown into a mission to deliver reliable, high-quality upgrades directly from the manufacturer.
We remain committed to intuitive design, exceptional quality, and the pride of building products in the U.S.A.
